POTENCY
RANGE OF HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES
The 6c, 30c and 200c
potencies are discussed in the FAQ
section
For purposes of easy reference, applicable in most of the
world***,we
say that:
- a low potency is anything under
30c (i.e.6c)
- a medium potency is usually 30c
- a high potency is usually anything above 30c. (200c 1M,
10M)
- a very high potency is usually anything above 10M (50M,
CM) (up
to MMM)
Potency:
1x to 5x used mainly in cases where the
condition does not permit rapid change (or aggravations)
induced by the high potencies (e.g. hardened earwax, scar
tissue, polyps etc) The choice of C or X potencies are a
matter of experience. Potencies below 3c may still contain
significant material quantities of the original susbstance.
6x used mainly for Tissue
Salts as is the 12x
4c used as an arouser, 7c as
regulator, 9c as restrainer ( see Foll)
12c, 18c, and 24c are generally used
when a strong response is not required
Potencies between 30 and 200, and 200 and 1M are
rarely used.
1M and higher (10M - CM)
are genarally prescribed when a strong response is required
and the constitution has sufficient integrity to withstand
the depth and pace of change. 1M is generally
the highest potency ever given as a first dose (30
or 200 more commonly)
LM potencies are generally prescribed
for those patients who are too sensitive to benefit from
the potencies above 30c
The choice of potency is not something that can be adequately
covered in one page, it is all about matching to the patients
sensitivity and temperament; the above is a very rough guide.
There are many excellent online courses for those who with
to investigate further
***It does not apply in some countries
e.g. France where 30c is considered a high potency due to
the restrictions there on higher potencies
