VACCINATIONS - The homeopathic view

- Is vaccination is the same as homeopathy?

No it isn't.

• For any given disease, vaccination uses the same identical disease to try to prevent it (with the one exception of smallpox, where cowpox was used to innoculate against it -so it could be argued that in this ONE INSTANCE vaccination was homeopathic).
• Homeopathy uses substances with a similar sphere of action, not an identical substance.
• Vaccinations use physical quantities of disease material, whereas homeopathic remedies are diluted beyond Avogadro's limit (i.e. don't contain any molecules of the original substance)
• Vaccinations contain foreign substances (e.g. egg albumin, felt, mercury) necessary in the production of the vaccine plus excipients and preservatives. Homeopathy doesn't.
• Vaccinations are injected directly into the body, bypassing several of the body's defence mechanisms, Homeopathy isn't
• Vaccinations have the potential for allergic reaction, Homeopathy doesn't.
• Vaccinations are based on an allopathic disease model, Homeopathy is based on an holistic approach.
• i.e. vaccination is allopathic, the opposite of homeopathic.
  

Do homeopaths support or denounce vaccination?

There is no single opinion across the board on vaccination from homeopaths. Some have vaccinated their children, others haven't. Some have strong opinions about it, others don't.

There is no doubt that the issue of whether to vaccinate or not will be debated long and hard for many years to come. There are ample resources already on the internet on the subject

It's an individual choice

The point is vaccination really has nothing to do with homeopathy; any more than surgery, the contraceptive pill or beta blockers have.

Homeopathy provides its own treatment for health problems, whatever their nature, or whatever their cause.
